come home soon

July 24th, 2009

i got a call this morning from toshio at the camera repair shop in nj. apparently my mirror falling out is a known issue, so he’s handing my 5d over to canon to fix. two of my lenses don’t need anything done, but the other three i sent need adjustments. the canon repair will set me back another three days, so i could be looking at a week or two more without my main equipment.

at least i’m not completely stranded. i had a 450d converted to infrared only a few months ago, and i’ve got a pile of old manual focus lenses that work with it. i ended up shooting a few things with it at the ranch right after the mirror incident rendered my other body unusable. i’m glad i had the forethought to bring the ir body along!

in related news, i’m pretty delighted with the blog. so far, anyway. i need to add navigation and external links, and i need to set aside a bit of time this weekend to work on the store. shop? i’m not sure what to call it just yet. either way, i’ve been selling quite a bit in the past few months, and it’s silly that i’ve put this off so long. things will be much easier for everyone once people can shop online right here at my site.

if you’re not on the facebook page yet, come join! i’ve given away a few pendants already and plan to give away some prints and maybe even a photo shoot or two (when i get my camera back, anyway). facebook.com/haleylunaphotography

so i finally got around to putting a blog on my site. i’ve had a “blog” — technically we called them online journals until recently — since ‘01, and it’s hard to make a move when you’ve already got over a thousand people reading at your current location. that, and i hardly ever make time to work on my own websites.

since this is brand new, i’m not sure just yet what all i’ll be posting (other than photography, of course). if you’ve got any questions, ideas, or requests, just let me know. also, drop me an email or leave me a comment if you find any glitches. i’ve been at coco all day, and my brain started to shut down long before i finished designing.

moving on.

mr jonathan youngblood and i decided to take advantage of the sunny weather this past weekend, so we went on a little trip out to my old ranch. we spent some time with the neighbors, then headed down to the lake to relax and take a few pictures. we weren’t there very long when i heard a mysterious clinking coming from inside my camera. i removed the lens, and my mirror fell out. oh good.

the good news is i was already planning to send my camera and lenses out the next day to new jersey so they could be calibrated. i put a little note in the box asking them to pretty please reattach my mirror while it was there. problem solved!

here’s a few snaps from before the mirror incident (you can see the full size images if you click the “read more” link at the end of the post):
